Description
The Molten Boss is the final boss in Molten mode. It also appears as the second major boss in Hardcore mode.
Like most other major bosses, the Molten Boss moves very slowly, but it has an extremely high amount of health. It also has burn immunity, making it immune to burn damage. Additionally, as it is a boss enemy, it is immune to being frozen, slowed down by the Toxic Gunner and it is only slowed down by the Electroshocker and Warden instead of being stunned.
Its first ability is Magma Stomp which will create a shockwave and stun towers that are hit. Its second ability is Scythe Slam which will summon six random enemies. In Molten mode, it can summon the Molten and rarely, the Molten Titan. In Hardcore mode, it can summon the Lava and Molten Titan. Its third attack is Fireball. The Molten Boss throws an explosive fireball at a tower. This sets the targeted tower and all surrounding towers on fire, stunning them for a period of time.
Appearance
The current version of the Molten Boss is similar to the third version, except it has a slash across its forehead, with drooping lines leaking from it.
The third version of the Molten Boss had glowing orange-red skin. It had magma horns on its head as well as magma arms. It had menacing orange eyes and walked slightly hunchback. It had black cobblestone armor, completed with pauldrons, gloves and boots, with a sun insignia imprinted on its torso. It also had metal armbands. Flaming spikes could also seen on its back torso and legs. As it walked, it left behind a lava trail. On its back was an orange-red scythe.

Strategy
- As with most major bosses, the Minigunner, Pursuit, Ranger, Turret and Accelerator are recommended for their high DPS.
- Be sure to have towers capable of eliminating the Moltens (or Lavas) and Molten Titans that the Molten Boss can summon.
- The Demoman, Mortar and Rocketeer are effective in doing this due to their splash damage. For the Molten Titan, a couple of Minigunners or Rangers can defeat them.
- You cannot defend your towers against the Fireball attack if your towers do not have immunity to stun. Additionally, the attack has quite a long range.
- You can mitigate its effects by not grouping towers together.
- Air-based towers, cliff towers and the Medic are immune to this attack. Additionally, the Gladiator and Warden can block this stun, so long as they do not block another attack within the last few seconds.
- A few Scouts can be used to distract the Molten Boss, making it less likely to throw the fireball at other towers.
- You can use the Medic's ability to cleanse towers of the Molten Boss's Fireball and Stomp stun.
- The Toxic Gunner cannot be used to slow this down.
- Stunning towers like the Electroshocker can only slow it down instead of stunning it. Similarly, freezing towers can also only slow it down instead of stunning it.
- The Jester's confusion can be useful against the Molten Boss as it is not affected by any immunity.
