Description

The Golden was a golden enemy, as the name suggests. It had an average speed while having slightly more health than the Abnormal Boss. Uniquely, it was immune to splash damage. This meant that the Rocketeer, Mortar and Demoman were useless against this.

The Mystery had a chance to spawn the Golden upon its death in Golden mode, wave 21 onwards. It was also spawned by the Gold Titan.

Appearance

The Golden had no face and the enemy was colored gold from the head to the legs. Its torso and legs were a darker shade of gold compared to its arms and head.

Strategy

  • Splash damage towers are practically useless against this, 24 Karats, Gold Guards and the Gold Titan as they all have immunity to splash damage.
    • It is best to limit the amount of Rocketeers or Demomen you place down. This does not necessarily mean that they are overall useless since they are very effective against the Summoner Boss.
    • Despite the fact that the Commando, Pursuit and Military Base deal splash damage, they are still quite effective against the Golden due to the fact that they deal non-splash damage.
  • Due to the fact that Goldens have splash damage immunity, you must take them down one by one with high DPS towers such as the Turret, Minigunner or Outlaw.
  • The Electroshocker and Pyromancer can be used to slow groups of these down.

  • When the Uber Mystery was in the game, it had a chance of spawning the Golden upon its death in Fallen mode.
  • Multiple dead Goldens can be seen laying on the ground in Gilded Path.
