Description

Freight Fright was a night-time winter map that took place in the high Arctic. It has since been removed from the game.

Design & Path

Freight Fright took place in the sea, with a multitude of icebergs floating around. The aurora borealis could also be seen, indicating that this was the Arctic. There was a vast expansive ice scenery with no human habitation. Two freight ships could be seen stuck between the floating icebergs. The freight ships themselves carried typical freight such as crates, barrels and containers. Each ship had a bridge and a deck, as well as a gangplank to the middle iceberg that connected both the ships.
The path itself was quite short. The white path began at a container on one ship and the bow on the other. It spanned from one ship to the other via the middle iceberg, using the gangplank to cross between the iceberg and the ships.

Strategy

  • While the optimum spot to place towers is on the middle iceberg, there is little space to place many towers.
  • The Pyromancer, Freezer and Electroshocker are recommended on this map to slow enemies down as the path is short.
  • When using the Farm or Military Base, it is suggested place them on one of the outer icebergs or the ships to allow your other towers to make most of the available space on the ships and middle iceberg.
    • It may be more optimal to use the Cowboy as a replacement for the Farm here.
  • The Military Base is not recommended as the path of this map is quite short, so the lifetime of each unit will be very short.
  • Cliff towers can be placed on some of the high icebergs and the bridges of the ships.
    • Be aware that the Commander and DJ Booth will struggle to reach cliff towers due to the limited space around cliff spots.

Trivia

  • Like past versions of Winter, Winter Stronghold and Village of Despair, Frost Solitude played in the background.
  • This map likely took place in the Arctic as a sea surrounds the North Pole, unlike the South Pole.
    • However, there was a ceremonial marker on the map. This can only be found at the South Pole, not the North Pole.
  • One of the ships was Texan flagged, while the other ship was unflagged.
    • The unflagged ship had a container which enemies came out of called Pandora's Box.
      • Pandora's Box is not literally a box, but is rather an artifact in Greek mythology connected with the myth of Pandora.
